Recent advances in machine learning and large-scale AI models have accelerated this shift, making AI tools widely accessible and highly influential. Research and Education
A core part of Lund AI Society is our Research and Education branch. This is where members work on focused AI projects over several weeks, combining theory, practice and collaboration.
Projects are designed to go beyond surface-level usage of AI tools. Instead, the emphasis is on understanding what is actually happening under the hood — how models are trained, how they make decisions, and what trade-offs exist in real systems.
Alongside project work, members take part in lectures, workshops and guest lectures from researchers and industry professionals, providing both academic depth and real-world perspective.

Learning AI in Depth
The goal is not just to use AI, but to truly understand it.
Machine Learning Foundations
Build a solid understanding of machine learning fundamentals, including model training, evaluation, optimization and data handling. Learn how classical and modern ML methods work in practice.
Deep Learning and LLMs
Explore neural networks, deep learning and large language models. Understand how architectures like transformers work, how models are trained at scale, and what limitations and risks exist.
Systems, Tools and Trade-offs
Learn about the practical side of AI systems: data pipelines, experimentation, evaluation, deployment and reproducibility. Understand the trade-offs involved in building real-world AI applications.
Industry Collaboration
Lund AI Society collaborates closely with industry partners to bridge the gap between academia and real-world AI applications.
Through project collaborations, guest lectures and sponsored challenges, members gain exposure to real problems faced by companies working with AI today. This includes problem scoping, working with imperfect data, and delivering practical solutions under real constraints.
These collaborations give members valuable insight into how AI is applied in industry, while helping partners explore new ideas and approaches together with motivated students.
